Assalamu-alaikum,

You may be aware that the official NHS Covid-19 App was launched on 24 September and you may have seen posters featuring a QR code in venues such as restaurants, shops etc.

Our Masjid committee have taken the decision to implement the NHS Test & Trace programme and we have now displayed QR code posters around the Masjid. All visitors & worshippers should Check-In to the Masjid every time you visit. This will help protect your loved ones and our community in case there is an outbreak traced back to the Masjid.

These codes can be scanned using the NHS app to let it know where you were and at what time, helping to track if anyone has come in contact with someone who later has a positive test result.

It does this by adding the Masjid to the app’s “digital diary”. You will not need to give your personal details.

How to Check In to the Masjid:

1.Download and Install the app Google Play Store or Apple App Store . (You should do this at home or office before you arrive at the Masjid).

2. Once you have downloaded the app, you will be presented with a Privacy Notice. Read through it to know how your data will be used, and click Agree if you wish to continue using the app. You will then be asked to enter the first part of your postcode. At this stage an alert should appear asking you to enable Covid-19 exposure logging and notifications. This will allow the app to notify you if you have been exposed to someone with the virus. Another alert will then pop up asking if the app can send notifications to your phone. Once you have enabled this, the app should be ready to use.

3. When you come to the Masjid scan our QR code (during Jumu’ah when it is very busy if you are unable to scan the code before you enter the Masjid then you can scan the code later as it is displayed in every prayer hall etc.) Open the NHS app and tap the “Venue check-in” button on the main menu once the app has opened.

4. Point the app’s camera screen at the QR code and wait for confirmation that it has been scanned successfully. You do not need to do anything else – this means the app has registered you at the Masjid (you will need to do this every time you attend the Masjid).

If anyone else who attended the Masjid at the same time as you later test’s positive for coronavirus, you will receive an alert from the App. Whilst the app has other features such as automatic Bluetooth scanning etc, you do not keep this on and can turn it off as Bluetooth is not required to be on to Scan the QR code.

If you do not have a smartphone or your phone software is not the latest (you will need to have iOS 13.5 or later installed on your iPhone or Android 6.0 or later on an Android phone) then you can manually Check-In each time you attend the Masjid via our Website  or text your Name by SMS or WhatsApp message to 07948 134 265

Please note that if you Check-in via our website or by text messaging you are providing your consent to us to hold your contact information in accordance with current data protection law for the purpose of NHS Test and Trace Service ONLY.

Thank you for taking time to read this guidance.
