Parking when attending Masjid

We are receiving complaints from residents that driveways and roads are being blocked by worshipers attending Jumuah Prayers.

We ask everyone to be considerate of our neighbours and park legally away from the Masjid without blocking anyone’s driveways or roads.

Where possible to ease traffic in the area please use public transport and share cars where possible when arriving to the Masjid for Jumuah or Taraweeh prayers.

Last Friday (18th June) an exit from behind a house was blocked, as a result of this a resident was unable drive their disabled mother to the hospital. This is UNACCEPTABLE, WE REQUEST that when you attend the mosque for prayers; YOU MUST NOT block any exits, driveways, junctions or cause any other inconvenience to our neighbours and local residents by your actions or behaviour.

There is plenty of parking available within 5-10min walk from the mosque, if you park there and walk to the mosque, inshallah you will receive extra rewards for every step you take to walk to the mosque.

Islam gives great emphasis on the rights of neighbours and recommends that a Muslim treats their neighbours kindly. There are many hadiths regarding this:
In a Hadith prophet Muhammad said, ‘Jibril always recommended treating neighbours with kindness until I thought he would assign a share of inheritance.’ [Al-Bukhari]
Good treatment towards neighbours is one of the characteristics that make a person among the best. The Prophet said, ‘The best friend in the sight of Allah is the friend who is best to his friends; and the best neighbour is the neighbour who is best to his neighbours.’ [At-Tirmidhi]

The Messenger of Allah [pbuh] said, ‘He will not enter Jannah whose neighbour is not secure from his wrongful conduct.’ The Messenger of Allah [pbuh] said, “He who believes in Allah and the Last Day let him not harm his neighbour; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day let him show hospitality to his guest; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day let him speak good or remain silent.’ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

The Qur’an also declares about kindness to neighbours, ‘Worship Allah and join none with Him [in worship]; and do good to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, the poor, the neighbour who is near of kin, the neighbour who is a stranger, the companion by your side, the wayfarer [you meet]…..’ [4:36]
